Abnormal engine oil pressure is divided into two cases of excessive oil pressure and low oil pressure, both of which will affect the lubrication effect, and need to be investigated and dealt with in a timely manner.
When the oil pressure is too low, the oil pressure warning light on the dashboard often lights up, accompanied by engine noise. Common causes are: insufficient oil, may not be a long time to replace the oil or leakage, check the dipstick scale can be judged, add the same type of oil or repair leakage points can be solved; oil filter clogging, too much impurity interception will impede the flow of oil, replacement of the new filter can restore oil pressure; oil pump wear, internal clearance is too large resulting in a decline in the pumping ability to be disassembled to check the wear is serious need to replace the oil pump; Shaft tile clearance is too large, such as crankshaft bearing, connecting rod bearing wear, will make the oil leakage too fast, need to measure the clearance and replace the shaft tile.
The oil pressure is too high due to excessive resistance in the oil circuit. Oil viscosity is too high is a common reason, especially in winter using the standard does not match the oil, will lead to flow obstruction, replacement of the corresponding season of the standard viscosity of the oil can be; pressure limiting valve failure, such as the valve is stuck in the closed position, can not release excessive pressure, need to disassemble and clean the limiting valve, if necessary, replace the spring; oil blockage, such as impurities in the oil channel or carbon deposits, impede the circulation of the oil, can be resolved through the cleaning of oil channels, when the engine is seriously need to be disassembled to clean; sensor misstatement may also indicate high oil pressure, replace the new oil pressure sensor if it returns to normal, indicating that the sensor is the problem. Dismantle the engine to clean; sensor false alarms may also show that the oil pressure is too high, replace the new oil pressure sensor if it returns to normal, indicating that the sensor problem.
The troubleshooting can be carried out step by step: first check the oil volume and viscosity, does not meet the requirements of the adjustment; then check whether the filter is clogged, if necessary, replacement; and then check the oil pressure sensor, to rule out the possibility of false alarms; and finally check the oil pump, pressure limiting valves and axle shafts and other internal components.
Handling should pay attention to: add oil must be consistent with the original model, to avoid mixing; replacement of parts to use matching specifications, such as filters need to meet the engine model; disassembly of internal parts need to re-adjust the gap, to ensure that it meets the standard.
After troubleshooting, start the engine and run it for 5-10 minutes, observe whether the oil pressure gauge returns to normal range and whether the warning light goes off. Regular oil and filter changes can effectively minimize the occurrence of abnormal oil pressure.
Engine troubleshooting is a complex matter that requires a number of factors to be taken into consideration, which I will continue to explain to you in the next article.
